Two-Year-Olds

To help your child learn, a more structured curriculum begins in our two-year-old classroom.  A “faith based” curriculum including Bible lessons, songs and fingerplays are transitioned into our weekly thematic curriculum so children receive developmentally appropriate learning opportunities daily. The staff uses a play and learn environment along with creative activities and materials to develop early childhood skills that include desirable character traits, language development, manners, and social interaction.

Preschool

A continuum of the educational process, children in the preschool classrooms experience creative and developmentally appropriate hands-on learning experiences leading them to pre-kindergarten readiness.  Children ages three and four enjoy a thematic curriculum planned with opportunities to be actively involved in both teacher directed, small and large group settings.  A hands-on Bible curriculum is a part of the daily classroom routine.  Children enjoy activities in math, language, science, music & movement, art and more!

Pre-Kindergarten

A focus on Kindergarten readiness skills is the primary goal of this classroom.  Weekly thematic topics along with Christian Bible lessons are taught in a fun and creative way.  In addition, teacher directed large and small group activities align with pre-kindergarten readiness skills and allow for both group and individual instruction.  Children are offered daily experiences in writing, language, letter sounds and recognition, phonics, basic math skills, and more. Pledges to the American flag, the Christian flag, and the Bible will be incorporated. Staff intentionally works with local Kindergarten teachers to maintain a strong program to best prepare the children for entering school.  Staff maintain developmental checklist to monitor and track progress.

A structured half-day preschool and pre-K program for children three years of age or above is available. Children enrolled in this program blend in with our full-time students for a structured morning schedule. The program begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. each day. (Exceptions to age qualifications will be based on child’s maturity, individual developmental level and space availability.)  A monthly tuition/fee is required for children who attend. Tuition is due on the first Monday of each month.  A tuition schedule is available upon enrollment. Like all programs at Cornerstone Christian Academy, this program will focus on academic readiness for kindergarten along with a Christian Bible lesson being incorporated daily.

Kindergarten/School-Age

Cornerstone offers a before/after school program during the academic year along with full-day care on days school is not in attendance.  In addition, a full-day program is available during the summer.

This program is designed for your school-age child to have a fun, safe, and positive atmosphere.  Students enrolled will be provided with opportunities to learn and grow.  Christian morals, manners, and character traits will be instilled into your child’s daily routine through Bible stories, crafts, friends, and play.  A structured and consistent daily schedule will help to produce desirable behavior within each child.  Children shall also receive opportunities to explore activities of interest, assistance with homework, and most of all it will occur in a positive, Christian environment.  During the summer a thematic curriculum is offered along with craft and field trip opportunities.

Children are divided into three classrooms by age-group – kindergarten classroom, first and second-grade classroom (“School-age I”), and a classroom of children third-grade through fifth-grade (“School-age II”.) This allows for planned activities and experiences to meet developmentally appropriate practice.
